to understand the root causes of
substance abuse among youth. Youth are
influenced, and sometimes even
encouraged to engage in harmful and
risky behaviors as a result of many
different risk factors that are rooted

School-Based
Programs
ESN Substance Abuse Prevention Services
staff members teach classes and deliver
other programs in schools that wish to
develop prevention strategies for
substance abuse. ESN preventionists use
research-based model programs designed
to give youth the knowledge and skills
they need to understand the dangers of
alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs and
resist becoming involved with

Prevention Library
Educators, preventionists, and
community advocates in Grundy, Kendall,
and Will counties are invited to use the
ESN Prevention Library located in the
Grundy-Kendall Regional Office of
Education (ROE), 1320 Union St., Morris.
The library is open during the ROE hours
of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through
